FireWind Massage Business Policies

I appreciate that you’ve chosen me for your massage and bodywork needs. To provide the best service possible to my Clients I have the following policies. 

Basic Info: All bodywork sessions are by appointment only. I accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover for payment of services. To confirm an appointment you must place a deposit at the time of booking. 

Appointments cannot be made more than 24 hours in advance. No walk-ins. 

I do not accept medical insurance or Medicare. Written receipts for flex-spending and health savings accounts are available upon request. Children are not permitted inside the office or waiting area. 

Be fully present for your appointment. Get to the studio early, have a drink of water, hit the bathroom, relax. Respect yourself and give your mind and body the time to be fully present for your session.

Cancellation and Late Arrivals: Kindly provide at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel your appointment. Recurring cancellations jeopardize any professional relationship and I may not be able to sustain you as a client. This is a busy practice that works with clients who are invested in their health. 

If I have to reschedule your appointment due to my sickness or a personal emergency I will do my best to upgrade your appointment to make up for the inconvenience.

No Shows: No shows are just that, you missed your appointment without a call, email or other attempt to communicate explaining your absence even after the fact. If you miss an appointment please contact me to clarify why it was missed. No show clients without a prior explanation will be excused from the practice.

All deposits associated with booked appointments are non-refundable and non-transferable. The appointment must be cancelled prior to the cancellation deadline to avoid being charged. All no call/no shows and appointments cancelled within the policy window are subject to being charged at my discretion. No call/no shows will seriously damage any professional relationship.

Intake forms and Information: All new clients will be asked to fill out a confidential intake form(s) prior to the first session. Please arrive 5-10 minutes early to take care of details presented in your intake form. Some medical conditions may be contraindicated for massage, so all current and recent medical conditions, surgeries, and medications should be disclosed to ensure your safety. All information disclosed on the intake form is confidential and cannot be shared with any third party without your prior approval. Some medical conditions may require that your doctor be contacted for approval before treatment and a written release may be necessary. I prefer to have as much information on your current condition as possible. Massage and bodywork is an important part of maintaining health and self-care, but is not a substitute for proper medical diagnosis.

Medication and Self Medication: If you are currently on prescription pain relievers or muscle relaxants, please let me know prior to your session. The use of recreational drugs and alcohol is not permitted 24 hours before a treatment. You must not be under the influence of recreational drugs or alcohol just before or during massage sessions because you must be able to give consistent feedback about pressure and sensation during the massage. This is especially important for therapeutic work. Mixed feedback may end your session for the day. Let me know prior to your session if you have taken any over-the-counter pain relievers (Aspirin, Advil, Tylenol, Aleve, etc.) in the 4 hours before your session.

Hydration/H2O: Before and after your session drinking enough water is essential. Please drink 8oz of water before arriving for your treatment. After your session, drink the suggested minimum amount of water for your body over the next 24 hours. To calculate, divide your body weight in pounds by two and that will give you the minimum amount of water in ounces that you should be drinking per day.

Jewelry: It is best not to wear any jewelry or your watch during your session. Leave them at home or remove them and place them in a safe pocket or purse before getting on the massage table. Medical Alert bracelets or pendants are the exceptions. Please leave them on. We will work around them.

Personal Hygiene: You must shower within 8 hours of the session and practice proper hygiene. Please don't come directly from a workout without showering first. 

Cell Phones: Please turn your cell phone off (best), or place it in Airplane Mode or vibrate. Cell phone use during a session is not allowed. If it rings during a session, no big deal, but if you answer it, the session ends then and there. No exceptions.

Minors: No one under the age of 18 may book an appointment.

I currently do not treat minors even with a parent or guardian present. Children cannot hang out in the waiting room even with a guardian or parent in attendance. 

Ethics and Professionalism: I am a Certified Member of the Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals (ABMP) and abide by their stringent Code of Ethics. Neuromuscular Therapy and Therapeutic Massage Therapy are professional, therapeutic types of bodywork. Draping must remain secure at all times by law. Sexual innuendos and intentional contact with the Therapist are inexcusable and will result in immediate termination of the session with full payment due.
